Lane Tabbed Head Men's Basketball Coach
Cape Fear Community College has announced the hiring of Mark Lane as Head Men's Basketball Coach. "Mark has been a great asset to our department and program for many years," said Director of Athletics Ryan Mantlo. "His morals, knowledge and work ethic will help him propel into a very successful head coach. We are thrilled to have him as our head coach."
Lane has fourteen seasons of collegiate coaching experience. Coach Lane has spent eight seasons roaming the sidelines as the Sea Devils Assistant Coach where he was instrumental in helping the Sea Devils to three Region 10 Tournament Championships, three Regular Season titles, four National Tournament appearances along with an eighth place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas in 2010-11. Lane also helped produce four All-Americans, Faronte Drakeford, Emmaunel Andrews, Tavares Speaks and Cephas Ogelsby. Coach Lane spent the 2014-15 season at Hill College in Hillsboro, Texas. Prior to his stint at Hill College, Lane was an assistant coach at Mars Hill University for two seasons. During the 2013-14 season, Lane was influential in helping Mars Hill defeat Division I Furman University. Prior to CFCC, Coach Lane was an assistant at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa (2007-08) and Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada (2006-07). "I'm thankful for the oppurtuntity I have been awarded and I cannot wait to get to work," said Head Coach Mark Lane. "There are high expectations as a program and I cannot be more excited to change the lives of young student athletes."
