Sea Devils Shine at 2025 Cape Fear Invitational

The Cape Fear Community College women's volleyball team opened their 2025 season at the Cape Fear Invitational Tournament. The Sea Devils finished the invitational with 3-1, demonstrating depth, resilience, and early chemistry. The team gained valuable experience to build on as the season progresses.

Match 1: CFCC vs. College of Southern Maryland

• Result: CFCC won 3–0
• Set Scores: 25–18, 25–9, 25–11
• Highlights:
• • Freshman Rose Eklund led with 10 kills on 20 attempts (.500) and 13 digs.
  • Laci Bitterman contributed 8 kills, while Nevaeh Ortiz and Emma Anderson added 7 each.
  • Liberty Ipsen and Marin Diana combined for 35 assists, orchestrating a smooth offense.
  • Cape Fear dominated in both attacking and serving, controlling each set from start to finish.

Match 2: CFCC vs. Montgomery College (MD)

• Result: CFCC won 3–0
• Set Scores: 25–17, 25–23, 25–19

• • Rose Eklund contributed 11 kills (.360) and 12 digs.
  • Emma Anderson added 5 kills, Laci Bitterman 6 kills, and Addi Olson 7 kills.
  • Liberty Ipsen distributed 18 assists to facilitate the offense.
  • The Sea Devils served effectively and limited errors, cruising to a clean sweep.

Match 3: CFCC vs. Lake-Sumter State College

• Result: CFCC lost 3–2

  • Rose Eklund had 12 kills and 10 digs, Emma Anderson 11 kills and 12 digs, Laci Bitterman 6.5 points, and Addi Olson 7 points.

  • Despite the loss, CFCC demonstrated grit and the ability to adjust mid-match.

Match 4: CFCC vs. Walters State Community College

• Result: CFCC won 3–1
• Set Scores: 25–27, 25–20, 25–16, 25–22

• • After dropping the first set, CFCC rallied to win three straight.
  • Rose Eklund led with 13 kills and 12 digs, Emma Anderson added 11 kills and 15 digs.
  • Laci Bitterman had 9 kills, Nevaeh Ortiz 7 kills, and Liberty Ipsen distributed 22 assists.
  • Strong serving and a balanced attack helped CFCC secure the win.

Head Coach Colby Rosser shared, "It was a competitive start to the season. Our freshmen blended well with the upperclassmen, and we saw some really positive moments, but there's plenty of work to do as we refine our game."

The Sea Devils are back in action Thursday as they travel to Francis Marion University. Game time is set for 5:00 pm in Florence, SC.
