Emily Coleman joined the Sea Devil coaching staff in 2013 as the head volleyball coach after spending two seasons as the head coach at North Moore High School in Robbins, NC. Prior to her stint at North Moore, Coach Coleman was the assistant varsity coach at Union Pines High School while also serving as the coaching director for the AC Sandhills volleyball club. Coleman helped found the club team in 2010, and oversaw the growth of the program from one team to eleven.

In her first year, Coleman guided the Sea Devils to a 19-3 record and 2nd place finish in conference standings. During her second year at the helm, the Lady Sea Devils finished with a 17-10 record. The team saw their first national ranking (#17) during the season, signaling not only the program's accomplishments, but also the potential for growth and further achievements. In addition, Coleman mentored two players to a top 25 national statistical finish for hitting and passing. In her third season, the team finished 20-8 with four all conference players and one player in the top ten nationally for blocking. During her fourth season, the team finished 21-8 falling in the regional championship game. The 2016 season recorded more national accolades for the team including total points earned per set and individual records for blocking. Each season under Coleman, the team has recorded the highest team grade point average of all athletic teams at Cape Fear. Coleman has also sent players each year on to play at various NCAA schools to continue their careers.

A 2009 graduate of Saint Leo University, Coleman brings an impressive resume as a player to the table. The 6'2" middle blocker was a force for the Lions, setting the career blocking record her senior season, as well as standing in the top five all time for solo blocks, assists blocks, and total blocks. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Middle Grades Education and finished her Master's in English education in July 2015. She is also an academic advisor at Cape Fear.

Coach Coleman currently resides in Leland, NC with her husband Casey and new son Knox.
