Lady Sea Devils Soccer Split Weekend Results
Improve to 6-1 on season
Wilmington, NC - The Cape Fear Community College Women's Soccer Team lost their first game of the 2011 season this past weekend in an over-time thriller against the 2010 Region Ten Tournament Runner-up Spartanburg Methodist College, 4-3 in Spartanburg, SC. The Sea Devils scored in the first 15 seconds of the game when Brittany Beaty assisted Jaylyn High. A second goal was scored by the Sea Devils in the 6th minute by Kelly Sigmon off another assist from Beaty. Spartanburg answered the scoring in the 10th and 28th minutes, equalizing the score at 2-2 at the half. Spartanburg went on top 3-2 shortly into the 2nd half until a goal from Britt Beaty knotted the contest once again. Despite several near misses from the Sea Devils late, the game ended in a 3-3 tie. One minute into over-time, SMC converted a Penalty Kick ending the game.
On Sunday, The Lady Sea Devils returned to their winning ways with a 10-0 win over Tri-County Tech in Pendleton, SC. Jaylyn High topped the scoring table with 3 goals off of assists from Amber Eberhard, and Amanda Fenton. Stephanie Vanvekoven had 2 goals and 2 assists in the contest. Other scorers included Ce Ce risk with 2 goals, Amanda Fenton with a goal and 2 assists. Amber Eberhard and Colleen Pisano each added a goal for the Sea Devils. Goalkeepers Kerinn Hall and Kailey Johnson combined efforts for the teams 6th shut-out for the 2011 season.
The Sea Devils are 6-1-0 on the season with a 4-1-0 Region Ten record. They play host to Wake Tech at the North Campus Soccer Field on Wednesday, September 21st. Kick-off is set for 4pm. Visit www.goseadevils.com for more information and details.
