Cape Fear Rolls Past Richard Bland
Cape Fear Community College delivered a dominant performance Saturday afternoon, overwhelming Richard Bland College 87-57 in a game that showcased the Sea Devils' talent, energy, and teamwork.
From the opening tip, Cape Fear set the tone with aggressive play and crisp ball movement, building a 26-15 lead in the first quarter and never looking back. The Sea Devils maintained their intensity throughout, closing the half up 48-32 and continuing to control the pace in the second half.
"Tonight, this was one of our best team performances," said Head Coach Felecity Havens. "We played aggressively, shared the ball well, and stayed on a string from start to finish."
Kelize Velez-Galan led all scorers with 34 points, including eight made three-pointers and 16 rebounds. Cara Trippett added 25 points, knocking down three triples and contributing seven rebounds. Yamorie Hardison dominated the paint with a huge double-double, finishing with 15 points and 22 rebounds, while also dishing out eight assists. Jaeden Hudson contributed 11 points and eight assists, helping the Sea Devils maintain their offensive flow.
"I'm proud of this team for bouncing back after a tough loss and dominating the way we did," Havens said.
Cape Fear improved to 12-6 overall and 10-6 in Region 10 play, demonstrating the balance and firepower that will make them a tough out as the season moves forward.
