Sea Devils Hold Off Wake Tech 70–68
Cape Fear survived a wild fourth quarter on Thursday night, outlasting Wake Tech 70–68 in a game that tightened with every possession down the stretch.
The Sea Devils looked in control early, stretching the lead to nearly 18 points at one stage. However, Wake Tech never let the margin feel comfortable. Even with a double-digit cushion inside the final four minutes, momentum swings kept the outcome in doubt. Wake Tech eventually took the lead in the closing minute before Cape Fear strung together the final decisive plays.
With the score tied, the Sea Devils pushed the pace, and Yamorie Hardison finished a fast-break layup to nudge Cape Fear back in front. On the next defensive stand, with roughly 10 seconds remaining, Jaeden Hudson jumped a passing lane for a clean steal and calmly dribbled out the clock to seal the win.
Monica Surratt powered Cape Fear all night with a dominant 28 points and 13 rebounds. Hardison added 12 points and 8 rebounds, while Kelize Velez Galan delivered a strong all-around showing with 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 assists. Hudson chipped in 7 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals, including the game-winning steal.
Afterward, head coach Felecity Havens said Surratt's presence set the tone. Havens explained that Surratt "really drove us tonight—her strength on the glass and ability to finish gave our group a huge lift." She also praised Hudson's poise off the bench, noting that her leadership and energy "gave us the spark we needed to close it out."
