Allendale, SC - Cape Fear saw its season come to a close in dramatic fashion on Wednesday as USC-Salkehatchie pulled out a 3-1 result in penalty kicks after two extra sessions in the Region 10 play-in game.
Tyus Lopez gave the Sea Devils a 1-0 lead in the 52nd minute, but Salkehatchie equalized six minutes later to send the match into overtime.
"Penalties are always a tough way to lose a game," said CFCC Coach Chris Libert. "We fought hard for 110 minutes and were the better team today in my opinion, but you have to finish off your chances."
Cape Fear finished the season 9-9-2 overall and 5-8-2 in conference.
