Sea Devils Fall To Rival Brunswick
Brunswick Community College jumped out early and never looked back, defeating Cape Fear Community College 97-73 on February 5.
The Dolphins set the tone immediately, building a 10-2 lead in the opening minutes and taking a 40-29 advantage into halftime. Cape Fear showed fight throughout the night and continued to battle, but Brunswick's efficiency on offense and strong second-half push proved too much to overcome as the Dolphins outscored the Sea Devils 57-44 after the break.
Cape Fear shot 34.2% from the field and struggled from three-point range (5-for-30), while Brunswick connected at a 53.5% clip and controlled the game with consistent scoring and strong interior play.
Jadyn Cooper led the Sea Devils with 15 points, while Jonathan White added 14 points. JJ Moore finished with 13 points and a team-high eight assists, and Jacob Daniels provided a spark off the bench with 12 points and six rebounds. Eli Hawk also chipped in 10 points.
"We were short-handed tonight, but I was proud of our fight throughout the game," said Head Coach Mark Lane. "We battled back and competed for a long stretch, but Brunswick opened it up late, and we couldn't close the gap."
The Sea Devils are back in action Tuesday night as they travel to Walterboro, SC for a Region 10 matchup with USC Salkehatchie. Game time is slated for 6:00pm.
