Cape Fear Falls to Wake Tech
Wake Technical came out with energy from the opening tip and used a strong first half to build separation, as Cape Fear fell 78-68 on the road in Raleigh.
The Sea Devils were forced to play from behind early after Wake Tech jumped out quickly and carried that momentum into halftime, leading 42-33. Despite the deficit, Cape Fear continued to battle and found stretches of solid play on both ends, keeping the game within reach.
In the second half, the Sea Devils responded with more consistent offense, scoring 35 points after the break and making multiple runs to cut into the margin. Each time Cape Fear looked ready to swing the momentum, Wake Tech answered with timely baskets and strong execution, preventing the Sea Devils from ever fully taking control.
Jadyn Cooper led the way for Cape Fear with 17 points, seven rebounds, and four assists, continuing to provide steady production throughout the night. JJ Moore added 12 points while also contributing five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Javon Williams played an active all-around game as well, finishing with eight points and five rebounds while adding four assists and three steals.
Cape Fear shot the ball well from the perimeter, hitting eight three-pointers, but turnovers and missed opportunities around the rim proved costly. Wake Tech capitalized on those mistakes and used them to maintain control late.
"Turnovers and missed layups proved costly tonight," said Head Coach Mark Lane. "We have to clean those things up in a hurry in order to start winning games."
The Sea Devils are back in action Thursday, as they battle cross-town rivals Brunswick CC in Bolivia, NC. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
