Cape Fear Mascot Tryouts Announced for 2025-2026 Season
About "Ray" the Sea Devil Mascot
"Ray," the CFCC official mascot, plays a pivotal role in the college's brand identity. The Sea Devil became associated with Cape Fear Community College in 1970. A contest on campus encouraged the student body to draw a prospective mascot, and a symbolic Sea Devil was chosen. But it wasn't until three decades later when the Sea Devil design was reconstructed, redesigned, and given the name "Ray," that it finally became the official mascot of CFCC.
