Sea Devils Defeat Central Carolina
Improve record to 11-3
The Cape Fear Community College Sea Devils improved their record to 11-3 on the season Tuesday night as they defeated Central Carolina Community College 96-71 in Sanford, N.C. Sophomore Cephas Oglesby led the way for the Sea Devils as he poured in a game high 26 points. "We let one get away from us the other night and we were ready to get back on the floor and back in the winning column," said Oglesby. The Sea Devils led throughout the contest as their athleticsim proved to be too much for the cougars to handle.
Friday night brought forth the 2010 opener for the Sea Devils as well as their first conference game this season. USC Salkehatchie came to town looking to take down the defending Region X Co-Champions. The Sea Devils opened up the game rolling as they built a 14 point advantage and an 11 point halftime lead. However, this was that was the last bright spot for the Sea Devils as Salkehatchie came out of the locker room in the second half on fire. They cut the Sea Devils lead throughout the 2nd half and took the lead for good with 2:01 remaining in the contest. The Indians eventually won the game 80-69 and handed Cape Fear their 1st loss in the past 6 games. Freshman Vernon Payne lead the Sea Devils with 15 points while Tavares Speaks chipped in 14 points in the loss.
