Sea Devils Throttle Caldwell Community College
Improve record to 7-2
Wilmington, N.C. – The Cape Fear Sea Devils (7-2) hit the road to Hickory, North Carolina Thursday night hoping to revenge last season's loss to Caldwell Community College. You could say the Sea Devils did just that. Cape Fear roared to an early 18-7 lead and never looked back handing the cobras a 112-66 thumping. Caldwell (7-2) has averaged over 98 points per game this season but the Sea Devils defense forced 26 turnovers and held CCC to an icey 10% shooting percentage from the arc. “We knew they were a high power offense and we had to find shooters in a hurry,” commented captain Alec Schmitt. Cape Fear's swarming defense ignited it's offense as they placed 6 players in double digits. Richard Shepherd led all scorers with 21 points, while Cephas Oglesby dumped in 17. Freshman big man Nick Jefferson had a career high night netting 14 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocked shots. Vernon Payne, Tavares Speaks, and rounded out the double digit scoring with 19 and 10 points respectivley.
The Sea Devils are back in the friendly confinds of the Schwartz Center for three of the next four games. College of Coastal Georgia comes to town Friday night, December 11th with tip-off slated for 7:00 p.m.
