Lady Sea Devils Improve to 2-0
CFCC downs USC Salkehatchie
Wilmington, NC - The Cape Fear Community College women's soccer team earned their second win of the season and first in conference play by defeating USC-Salkehatchie 4-2 in Allendale, S.C. The Sea Devils clawed their way back into the game after going down 2-0 to the Indians. USC stormed out of the gates scoring in the 4th minute, and adding another just after half-time. CFCC eventually got on the board in the 68th minute when Rebekah Hellberg tucked away a penalty kick. Ashli Flowers tied the game and then Laurel Ramsey gave the Sea Devils a lead three minutes later off assists from Annie Haywood and Caroline Kight. Hellberg added one more goal in the final minutes to secure the victory for the Sea Devils. Karissa Kimrey and Margaret Wyatt each had a save a piece in goal. The Lady Sea Devils outshot the Indians 25 to 4. CFCC (2-0) returns home this Saturday, September 5th at 12 noon, as they play host to CCBC Catonsville from Maryland.
