Sarr was named 1st Team All Region as a freshman and looks to improve over the off-season. Lester Martorell, a freshman from Miami, FL, earned 2nd Team All Region and has proved to be a top level holding forward. Martorell and Sarr will lead the Sea Devils up top providing scoring opportunities for next year.
Kimball Webster, a freshman from St.Louis, MO, lead the Sea Devils in the back along with Nick Degrassi (Charlotte) both earning 1st Team accolades. Tyler Sosa (Jacksonville) earned 2nd Team respectively. Both Sosa and Webster will allow the Sea Devils to start where they left off in the defense for the 2009 season.
The final Sea Devil men's soccer player to earn All Region honors was goalkeeper Kyle Hoard. Hoard started between the posts for two consecutive years and will leave the program with a .96 goals against average.
Robert McGee was named Coach-of-the-Year for the first time after directing a 15-5-1 record. McGee guided a roster that included 14 players who were freshmen, to the school’s best finish in Region 10 and its first tournament title. “To be honored with this award in a conference of great coaches is humbling. The administration, coaching staff and players are commended - this is a product of their work.”
Cape Fear Community College posted an overall record of 15-5-1 and finished 1st in the conference standings with an 11-3-0 mark. After winning the Region 10 Championship the Sea Devils season ended at the Mid Atlantic Championship to the hands of CCBC Essex with a 2-0 loss in the District Tournament.
